They are back

October 24, 2010

We put up the first bird feeder, the one with the little house,  when we first got here and filled it with bird seed left over from last year.  I suspect the birds did not care too much for seed that had been in our hot garage all summer so we refilled the feeder with new seed.  There was a small number of birds that came the next day.  The wire that held the hanging feeder broke from being rusted out  and I had to wait until a neighbor put up a new wire for me as one end had to be tied to a rather tall pole that required someone to be toward the top of the step ladder to connect it.  I have instructions to stay off ladders now so waited until Tony was available.  I finally got it up and the birds started coming.  Only problem was that I could not see it from my comfortable chair.  Later I did put up the ladder and from the second step I could put the feeder closer to the left where I can see it now.  In just the last two or three days the birds have really found it and provide a lot of entertainment for us.

Corrections

Somehow the photos got mixed up but logic will sort them out.  Scott pulled out a lot of the big weeds and Aileen and I cut them up and hauled out to the street and they were picked up the following day.

Learning

There is a lot more learning involved in owning an iPod then first meets the eye. Some times it seems like a waste of time but I will struggle with it for awhiile yet.

About our guests

September 11, 2010

We enjoyed having Patti Sadler (Pentkowski) and her family staying with us for a few days while they were arranging the funeral of her mother, Clara. They left this morning and we took a picture of them which hopefully I can upload to this post.

Our Guests

September 10, 2010

We have had the opportunity to welcome to our home for several days a wonderful former neighbor and very close friend of my daughter, Michelle. She is Patti Sadler (Pentkowsk}. She was here a few weeks back visiting her mother in a local facility. Her mother passed away recently and she and her husband, Don and daughter, Natilie came her again to attend the funeral. We have enjoyed them very much and were glad to be able to help them in this time of need.

Diabetes Report

September 8, 2010

After attending a meeting on treatments for Diabetes we learned a few new procedures that seem to have eliminated the necessity to eat something at bedtime to prevent sugar levels from getting too low over night.  It involves reducing the amount of long term insulin and using a fast acting insulin before some meals.  In Aileen’s case it seems to be breakfast.

Hopefully this will curtail the weight gain associated with insulin.

New Password

Update on iPad

I just learned how to view a netflix movie on the iPad. The picture does not fill screen and the audio is way to low.
